CVS 101

As with all stores, there are quirks and ways to get the best deals with tons of freebies and CVS is no different. In this tutorial, I will break down the basic information needed to save and spend less!
  • CVS's Store Locator
  • CVS's Weekly Circular
  • Apply for a CVS card. You can do this in the store or online, in the store they let you use it right away.
  • When you checkout, always scan your card first. The deals are tied to you card.
  • Like many other programs, it can be accessed via phone number if you forget it at home.

CVS STORE COUPONS 101

  • You can view CVS's coupon policy here.
  • CVS accepts manufacturer's coupons, including internet printable coupons.
  • CVS also issues their own store coupons, which you can get these through CVS emails.

EXTRA CARE BUCKS (ECB)
  • CVS has a reward system called Extra Care Bucks or ECBs.
  • Every week CVS offers a couple of items that will be completely free after ECBs. This means that you will buy the item now, and get a coupon printed on your receipt for that amount.
EX: let’s say they are offering M&Ms at 50¢ with a 50¢ ECBs you would pay 50¢ now, and get a coupon for 50¢ printed on your receipt to use on your next purchase just like cash.
  • Earn ECBs by purchasing specified products and quantities/dollar amount.
EX: Buy $20 in Neutrogena Products get $10 ECBs back.
  • ECBs are usable on your NEXT transaction, whether its later in a day or the following week, but be careful, they do expire.
  • Once you reach the limit of earning ECBs, you cannot do that deal again.
  • Both ECB and CRT coupons are linked to your CVS card, which means you cannot use them without the same CVS card that earned them.
  • ECBs are not counted as coupons, meaning you can use as many of these as you like.
  • Read CVS's breakdown of ECBs here on the CVS website.

CASH REGISTER TAPE (CRT)
  • CRT's are from price scanner/coupon printer.
  • CRT's print for everyone, everyday.
  • Once these print, you will not receive any more CRT's from the scanner for the day.
  • CVS also offers many coupons for $3/$15 ($3 off a purchase of $15), $5/$20 etc.
